Mission and Background

The International Accreditors For Continuing Education and Training's (IACET) mission is to advance the global workforce by providing the standard framework for quality learning and development through accreditation.

About us

Our history includes the development of the original Continuing Education Unit (CEU) and creation and maintenance of the ANSI/IACET Standard for Continuing Education and Training.

IACET uses the ANSI/IACET Standard, in-depth research on the learning process and a nationwide network of experts to help continuing education and training providers to develop a framework for continuous improvement and a superior learning experience. View a timeline of IACET's history.

Your Competitive Advantage

When an organization becomes an accredited IACET CEU provider, they also get one more thing: a competitive edge. With IACET continuing education and training (CE/T) accreditation, you can tell the world your company is committed to best practices in adult learning and professional training, and that it has successfully mastered IACET’s rigorous accreditation process.

IACET offers workshops, webinars, downloadable and printed resources, industry research and more to organizations: pursuing training re/accreditation, CE/T benchmarking, and process improvement.

We guide learners to Accredited Providers. Our CET Connection newsletter and other resources provide the general public and accrediting bodies with continuing education and training information. The association wants to foster a greater understanding of the ANSI/IACET Standard.

A Proud History of Setting the Standard

How can you be sure that a continuing education or training program delivers solid learning outcomes? That it’s offered through an accredited training provider? That the processes used in its development adhere to best practices in instructional design? IACET, the Council on the Continuing Education Unit (CCEU), and a U.S. Department of Education task force were created to address questions like these.
