Announcement

(Reston, Virginia USA, November 15, 2017) The International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), a global, non-profit leader in continuing education and training standards, announced the approval of its new ANSI/IACET 1-2018 Standard for Continuing Education and Training by the American National Standards Institute’s Board of Standards Review.  Following the announcement in the November 10, 2017, issue of the ANSI Standards Action, IACET CEO, Joe McClary said, “ANSI accreditation makes IACET’s training standard one of the best in the world. With an aging workforce and widening skill gaps in the global labor market, following a training standard has never been more important to translate skills from one generation to the next.  We are thrilled to provide organizations across the globe with an updated Standard to reference when instructionally designing and delivering effective training.”

Numerous regulatory agencies look to the IACET Standard to assist them in ensuring the integrity of professional education programs. Those regulatory agencies can rest assured that IACET’s training Standard, which is followed by more than 1,000 training providers, is more relevant than ever.  The IACET Standard covers nine categories pertaining to how a training provider instructionally designs and delivers its training.  IACET accredits training organizations against the Standard by evaluating organizational processes and instructional design methodology to ensure training providers are positioned to consistently offer a quality and meaningful training experience to adult learners. The new Standard provides additional focus on verification of learner identity, organizational effectiveness and applying adult learning principles to instruction.

Dr. Stuart Karasik, Chair of the IACET Council on Standards Development (ICSD) said,"I am honored to work with a highly educated, professional and qualified group of volunteer members of the IACET Council on Standards Development.  The Council was fully engaged in the process and was pleased to develop a Standard that meets the needs of all of our AP’s while maintaining the highest level of integrity and professionalism that has been a hallmark of the previous ANSI/IACET Standards.   The 2018 Standard, and it’s requirements sets a high bar for originations involved in the field of Continuing Education and Training for both today and the future."

The new ANSI/IACET 1-2018 Standard for Continuing Education and Training is available at www.iacet.org.  Regulatory officials considering adoption of the IACET Standard are eligible for a free copy of the Standard by emailing regulatory@iacet.org.
