The IACET Council on Standards Development is responsible for the development, maintenance and dissemination of evidence-based standards that promote and enhance quality continuing education and training (CE/T).
IACET was recognized as an ANSI-Accredited standards developing organization (SDO) in 2006. As an SDO, IACET’s Council on Standards Development provides a method to assure that suggestions for improvement, questions from users of the standard, or requests for interpretations of the standard are handled in a fair and consistent manner. To obtain a copy of the IACET Council on Standards Development Procedures for American National Standards, please send an email to info@iacet.org. Suggestions for improvement or questions concerning the ANSI/IACET Standard are reviewed by the Council on Standards Development.
Submit a written request for an official interpretation of a standard category or element.
IACET formed the IACET Council on Standards Development to simplify the original Criteria and Guidelines for Quality Continuing Education and Training Programs: The CEU and Other Measurement Units by streamlining and removing any disconnects and duplications. This led to the development of a set standard, which was submitted to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for approval as an American National Standard (ANS). This activity was accomplished in October of 2007. IACET holds the ANS for a quality process in continuing education and training.
Guided by the IACET vision and the U.S. Department of Education’s goals for CE/T, the ICSD operates from a set of strategic goals and action plans that reflects field research and other new information related to continuing education and training quality and excellence.
As an ANSI-Accredited standards developing organization we are committed to ensuring openness and transperency in our standards development process. Below you will find our ANSI-Approved procedures, as well as other documentation of standards under development by IACET. As part of our commitment to continuous maintenance of designated ANSI standards, we welcome your comments at any time.
